40 weeks and 3 days.

Here I am at 40 weeks and 3 days. "Baby come out, you can blame it all on me, I was wrong, and I just can't live without you." Isaac and I always sing that song so the baby knows she can come out now. My last appointment was last Monday, and I was at 3 centimeters and almost all the way effaced. He stripped my membranes and he said, "You probably won't see me for our next appointment, but let's schedule one anyway." Well, my next appointment is tomorrow, so it looks like I will see him. Oh well. He said he would induce me a week after my due date, so that would be this Friday, but I'm hoping I'm far enough dilated tomorrow that he'll just keep me. I won't get my hopes up though. I have been having a lot of pains, and contractions, but they don't continue so I haven't gone in. Anyway, that is the update with me, hopefully this week we will have a baby! Weird, I'm going to be a mom, and I will have a baby, and my husband will be a dad, and have a baby. AHH!!!

Nursery is DONE!

We finally have everything done in the nursery. We got the changing table/dresser on Craigslist, but it was an oak color, so we painted it. I think it turned out well. We needed something on our wall, so I got the letters from hobby lobby, painted them brown, mod podged some cute paper to it that would match, and hung them on some ribbon. It cost me about $7.00 for the set, and some places were trying to sell similar letters for 20 bucks EACH!!! Anyway, I had fun with that.

Thoughts from Isaac

Hello blog readers. I figured that since this is the Nielsen Family blog that I would add my two cents and a little manliness here and there. These thoughts will be filled with things that I am currently doing or interested in at the moment.

This entry is going to be about fitness. Now I'll be the first to tell you that I'm not a very active, go out and exercise, run around, climb trees, eat healthy, drink 80 cups of water a day kind of guy. So getting any fitness tips from me is a special treat, like a carrot from the Easter bunny.

There are two programs that I am doing at the moment, the first of which is hundredpushups.com

The idea of this site is that if you follow this free program you will be able to do 100 consecutive push ups at the end of six weeks. I am on day 2 of week 3 right now and so far it is just barely starting to get challenging. Yesterday I had to really push to finish my last few for the day. This program is easy and scalable no matter what you current strength level is. I'll give you an update when I finish and if you decide to take the challenge let me know how it went as well.

The second program I'm doing can be found as a gadget for your personal igoogle page.

It's called My Walking Program

This is also free and done by the Cleveland Clinic. It is a 15 week walking program that you can keep track of your results. Now this one I just started this week so I can't tell you much about it other than the first week is comprised of walking three times for 2o minutes. I'm on day two of this program. For the first day I took Julia and Floyd and we just walked around the neighborhood. As the weeks progress I'll give you an update on how I feel about this one. Some of the comments from the gadget site report lose of data. =( I'm going to give it a try anyway.

Crib and 3 Month Supply

So this past day off (Mon), Isaac and I got quite a few things done. First of all, Isaac cleared out the baby's room of all of our storage, and put it in our new storage shed. Then he moved all of our food storage into our closet under the stairs. We also went to IKEA and bought some curtains for the baby's room, and also a food storage shelf for our 3 month supply of rotatable foods. We thought we were good on our food storage because we had our year supply of the basics(wheat, rice, beans etc.) But then, our church has said that we should also have a 3 month supply of foods we use every day, so it was back to getting more stuff. That is what I've been working on this past week. I made a list of all the things we eat every day, and all the things that are required to make those things. Then I made a list of all those things that can last at least 3 months in storage, either in the freezer, or at room temperature. Anyway, It was a process. I think I overdid it a little one day, because I did a lot of the shopping on one day, but everything is OK, they baby hasn't come yet ;) It just makes us feel a lot better to have these things! Here is a picture of our stocked to the brim storage shelf...

Isaac put the crib together earlier. but on Monday we actually put the all of the cute stuff on it! I made the quilt for it, and my mom got us to bumper, oh and April got us the sheets. We got the crib on KSL.com for 20 bucks! We like it! The baby's room still isn't finished, but it's getting there!!!

Retaining water

I'm retaining water, want to see my ankles? (I wanted to post this because that's my favorite thing to show people right now)

Baby Shower

I had a great time at my friend baby shower! It was a double baby shower with my friend Jenica, who is due 3 weeks after me. The people who came were Biph and April, Brandy, Melanie, Tara, Sonja, Launa, Lindsay, Ashley, Jacklynn, and Tara. They were all so nice and generous, they got me some really cute, and needed gifts! These pictures are from April's camera. I wish I had taken a few with mine so I could have some of my single's ward friends in them, but that is ok. It was really really nice of Brandy and Melanie to throw the shower for us! We had a fun time! First we played the game where you try and guess how big around we were. Everyone guessed way too big for me :( Oh well. April won that one, I knew you knew me well! Good job! Then we played a matching game that had to do with baby stuff. And then we had the diaper making contest. Jenica and I were the judges, so we came up with our own stipulations on the quality of the diaper. They had to first explain why their diaper was the best, and then we put two hersheys kisses down the back of the diaper, and made them walk to the fence and back to see whose stayed in. April's team won, because the hersheys stayed in and the diaper didn't fall apart. We then had dessert and opened presents. It was a lot of fun!!! Good times!! Thanks everyone!

Back from Camp (3 weeks ago)

I'm sorry it has been so long since I updated my blog. I kept feeling like there was too much to write, so I would get overwhelmed and not write anything. I went to girl's camp the 2nd to last week in June, and it went spectacularly well! I think I was really prepared this time because I was so worried about it, so it's probably a good thing that I was worried. The leaders were so good to me because they kept commenting on how well the meals, activities, and the overall camp was planned. It made me feel really good. The first day we left at about 2:00 and got to the cabin at 3. We set up camp, and pretty much just had time to start dinner. We had haystacks that night, and the girls LOVED them. They kept commenting on how good the sauce is! I got the recipe from my sister and it consists of milk, chicken bouillon, butter, and flour. It is so yummy!!! That night we did our "indoor athletic event". All the girls got onto teams according to what color laffy taffy that they drew out of a bag. So there was the purple, green, pink, and yellow teams. This was such a fun activity because the girls had to do silly things like feed another girl 1/2 cup of water with a teaspoon the fastest, drop as many peanuts into a jar as the could, while standing on a bench, push a penny with a toothpick over a line on the floor, and throw a balloon the furthest. I'm pretty sure they had fun, because I did! I did the evening devotional that night about individual talents, and that went great!

The next day, we went on a hike to fulfill some of their certification, and we took sack lunches. We also did crafts. I actually was having a hard time coming up with a craft, but something hit me when I went to hobby lobby(my new favorite craft store). We were going to do nature frames, so when the girls went on the hike, they could pick up a bunch of things that they could put on their frame. The cheapest frames at hobby lobby were 2.99 each. Since I wanted to stay under budget, and I had to get 20 frames, it was just too much. So, I found these jewelry boxes that were unfinished wood that were 0.99 cents each! It gets better though.. They were 40% off! So I was like, "hmm, what can we do with these?" Because honestly, the best crafts that I remembered when I was at camp, were things that I actually would use, or would actually be cute enough to display. And I decided it would be fun to get some really cute scrapbook paper, and mod podge it to the wood boxes. I must say that they all turned out so cute!!! I also brought up beads for necklaces and bracelets, and they really enjoyed that too. We did a lot of games that night too, we played the candy bar game, the pillow game, the category game, and the skittles game. Fun!

The next day the big activity was the outdoor games we played. We did a water bucket relay race that turned into a water fight of course. We played steal the bacon, and we did a water balloon toss. We also had a cherry pit spitting contest, and I think that was a hit of the day! later that day, after lunch we had a scavenger hunt where the girls had to match a grid with a bunch of different items found in nature, and whoever matched it the closest won. We also did a service project for the wonderful woman named Rachel who let us borrow her cabin for girl's camp. We lined her little stream with rocks. I thought it looked great when we were done. We also did karoke. The Bishop came up that night, even though it was his daughter's birthday, and we had dinner with him. We also played "Dip 'dip dip" wow, that was so much fun, he was a RIOT to watch! We also had our final devotional(the leaders did a devotional every night, that had to do with our camp theme "We are One" (unity)) We had quite an emotional and spiritual testimony meeting. I think the thing that amazed me the most is, the group of girls that our in our ward are all VERY different. But, I was absolutely amazed how kind everyone was to everyone else. Never once did I hear anyone at camp talk bad about any of the other girls. That's why I thought it was ironic that the theme that was chosen was "unity" because I don't think they needed it, they all taught me a lesson. Anyway, after a great testimony, full of tears, we had popcorn and watched the movie "Charlie". Maybe it wasn't such a good choice because everyone was bawling by the end of it. But, truly, I thought it was a good bonding experience.

That night all the leaders stayed up making candy bar awards for the girls. We stayed up until one in the morning laughing our heads off because we were so delirious and were coming up with the dumbest things to go with the candy I had bought for the awards. We finally went to bed, and the next day we packed up. I was happy to go home because I missed my husband so much, but it was also sad, it was such a great experience. I think it was mostly sad because I gained such great relationships with the leaders and girls, and I was sad I wouldn't be working with them anymore. I am grateful that I prayed so much that I would feel better about this camp, and the preparation of it, and I was definately blessed! I didn't even want to do it at first, but I am SO glad I did!
