So we have a little story to tell with this trip. My parents went up to Strawberry Pinnacles, which is this really awesome place to camp, that's a little hidden away. Anyway, we were going to pick up our van that we had just bought, in Orem. When we got there to pick it up, it wasn't working right, so we left it there so the dealership could fix the problem. That's a story in and of itself, but it's boring, so I won't go in to detail. Anyway, we were planning on heading up to camp with my parents after that. We were left with just the Beetle to go camping with. Well, Isaac gets the address from my mom and plugs it into his GPS on his phone. We call my mom, and we tell her where it's telling us to go (taking highway 6 and taking a road across, instead of 189 all the way down) She told us not to go that way. But I was a little too trusting of the GPS and it said it would save us 15 minutes! I was very wrong. It took us an extra 4 hours. That road that cut across from 6 was a dirt, 4 wheel drive road. When we first got on it, the first 3 miles were pretty smooth, but it got increasingly worse. It really wasn't the best route for any car, let alone a Volkswagen Beetle. We got high centered a couple of times, and Isaac had to get out, in the pitch black, except for the headlights of course, and I had to drive, while he lifted our car off of the dirt mound we were high centered on. Sarah was asleep about 2 hours into it. Charlotte at that time in her life, did NOT fall asleep in cars, and she was exhausted, so for the last hour, she was screaming. I didn't handle it very well. When we had about 3 miles left, We were counting down every tenth of a mile. The road was getting narrower and narrower, and the dips were getting deeper and deeper. We get to the end and it says, "You have reached your destination!!" Nope, we were in the middle of nowhere. I pretty much lost it. I had many visions of us running out of gas, and being lost in the wilderness. After a 50 point turn, we turned around and really didn't know where to go, so we just went back and found a fork in the road and took that. We saw a sign that said Duchesne, so our plan was to just keep driving until we got to Duchesne. It was almost one in the morning, but we did eventually find Strawberry Pinnacles, and my parents were very relieved, as were we! We definitely learned our lesson on putting all our trust in the GPS. Honestly though, it was a very fun trip, and I'm glad we went, we'll just go a different way next time :).
